Tower Climber Positioning Lanyards and Rebar Assemblies
When working on a tower, getting the job done while only using one hand is nearly impossible. That’s where positioning lanyards and positioning assemblies come in.
Positioning Lanyards
Positioning lanyards have been specifically designed to help position you when working on a tower. A positioning lanyard should only be used in conjunction with a backup fall arrest device. There are two types of positioning lanyards: adjustable and non-adjustable.
The types are pretty self-explanatory - adjustable positioning lanyards are… adjustable. Whereas regular positioning lanyards are a predetermined length. What type of positioning lanyard you need is dependent on the job at hand. There are 3 main materials that positioning lanyards are made of non-stretch webbing, stretch webbing, and rope.
Positioning Assemblies
Positioning assemblies function in the same way as positioning lanyards in that they have been specifically designed to help position you while you work on a tower. They should also only be used in conjunction with a backup fall arrest device. The big difference between a positioning assembly and a positioning lanyard is that assemblies feature chains instead of rope and a rebar hook.
