Warming Gear and Thermal Clothing
Working on a job site in the dead of winter isn’t exactly the definition of fun. On top of that, getting too cold can be just as dangerous as getting too hot. Working in the elements is often unavoidable, so don't let it stand in your way! Layer up with warming gear by Ergodyne, Carhartt, Milwaukee, and more. With a wide range of comfortable base layer, mid layer, and outerwear options to choose from, you’ll find the perfect warming gear for any need. Our selection includes moisture wicking short and long sleeve shirts, thermal jackets, heated jackets, and durable bibs. No matter what you’re looking for, we’ve got you covered so you can stay safe and productive on the job.
When looking at the gear you need, something important to keep in mind is cold stress. Cold stress isn’t something that people typically talk about. While heat stress is mentioned often and everyone at least knows a little bit about it cold stress doesn’t get nearly as much coverage, but its effects can be just as damaging to your body. So, what is cold stress? Cold stress occurs when your body can no longer maintain its normal temperature. When your skin temperature drops low enough it can begin to lower your internal body temperature.
To maintain your vital organs, the body reroutes blood away from your external extremities in an effort to keep your core temperature up. This blood flow change can cause serious complications or even death.
A big part of combating cold stress is the type of gear you are wearing when working out in the cold.
